Deschutes River
Oregon's flagship river — cold, powerful, and spring-fed, holding native redside (redband) trout the whole length plus a storied summer steelhead run in the lower canyon. Below Pelton–Round Butte (near Madras) it runs as a big tailwater; the lower river to the Columbia is wade-and-drift-boat water with famous salmonfly and steelhead seasons. Flows are dam-buffered, so it stays fishable when freestones blow out.

Metolius River
One of America's great spring creeks — the Metolius boils out of the ground near Camp Sherman full-formed, gin-clear and 48°F year-round, holding wild redband and native bull trout. Fly-fishing only, technical, and cold: flows barely move because it's spring-fed, so this is a hatch-and-drift game, not a level-watch river.

Owyhee River
A world-class desert tailwater in Oregon's remote southeast corner — the Owyhee below the dam near Adrian is a blue-ribbon brown trout fishery, cold releases winding through a red-rock canyon full of big, wild browns and some rainbows. Above the reservoir near Rome it's a warmwater smallmouth and catfish float. The tailwater is entirely flow-dependent.
